Floriade
This once-in-a-decade flower festival returns for 2012 with tickets available until October. The floral bonanza is one of the largest horticultural events in the world, with five unique themed worlds covering over 160 acres of wooded parklands.
Limburgs Museum
Travel back in time at this fascinating history musuem and discover how people lived throughout the ages. With interactive displays and the unique Historoscoop cinema, its a great place to visit on those rainy days, no matter your age.
Town Hall
Much of Venlo was destroyed in World War II and this monumental Renaissance building is one of few that remain. Dating back from the 16th century, the ground floor market hall now houses the city's municipal archives.
Düsseldorf
Venlo is just 40 minutes from this vibrant German city on the Rhine, known for its fine arts, carnival celebrations and the atmospheric Altstadt - dubbed 'the longest bar in the world' - not to mention the shopping on the world-famous Königsallee.
Cologne
Just an hour away is this magical German city, home to the magnificent Kölner Dom, the world's fifth tallest church, and Hohenzollern Bridge, known as the 'love bridge' for its hundreds of engraved padlocks left by sentimental lovers passing by.
De Maasduinen National Park
A few miles outside of Venlo you will find this beautiful, scenic expanse of parkland, lakes and rivers, teaming with wildlife and home to Holland's longest belt of river dunes. At the heart of the park is the De Hamert estate.
