Cheap City Breaks to Milan

Milan View breaks >>

Milan is the most dynamic city in Italy, and the powerhouse of the country's economy. It's also one of Europe's richest cities, with chic shopping and cutting-edge style in its galleries, shops and restaurants.

An abundance of historical and artistic heritage is prominent throughout the city. A magnificent cathedral, ancient churches, the world's most famous opera house, fine neoclassical buildings and some world-class galleries and museums prove that Milan has got a lot to offer. Milan achieved its affluence and style during its 19th century industrialization, when the city emerged from 300 years of foreign rule to expand from its historic core into a sprawl of wide streets and neoclassical and art nouveau buildings.

In Milan, hard work and fast pace go hand in hand with style, money and 21st century values. This is one of the few Italian cities where the siesta is unknown, and where the pace rivals that of London or New York.

Holy Mary of Grace
This impressive 15th century church features a beautiful tribune, serene cloister and a magnificent intricate dome. Leonardo da Vinci's fragile fresco of the Last Supper is housed here on the wall of the Old Refectory.

Sforzesco Castle
One of Milan's most famous landmarks and the former residence of the Duchy of Milan. Today, it houses Michelangelo's Rondanini Pietà and a 16th century surrealist Portrait of Spring by Arcimboldo, composed entirely of flowers.
