Food is an Italian institution, renowned throughout the world for the dedication with which it is prepared and for the delicious fresh ingredients that they use in their dishes. Even dining out itself is an event, often a family affair, to be savoured. The restaurants around Lake Garda provide a perfect experience of this. Meals are relaxed and in most instances provide a culinary delight.
You are spoilt for choice with literally hundreds of restaurants, cafes, bars, bistros lining the route of the Lake. There are even a number of roadside stalls offering snacks throughout the day. There is also a selection of styles, of course, Italian is the most common, but you can also find German and American diners scattered around.
Lake Garda is divided into three separate regions, to the west Lombardia, to the east Veneto and Trentino to the north. The culinary specialities and local wine options are quite distinct from one area to another though as you would expect pizza and pasta dishes appear in most restaurants. Even individual towns have their own particular signature dishes but on most menu’s you will find the local delicacy of fresh dried Gardaí fish.
