For summer clubbing you can’t do better than to head for the Sorrento Peninsula region and the Amalfi Coast, home to some of Italy’s most chic seasonal clubs, some cited in caves above the sea. If you are happy to travel out of town, L’Africana at Praiano and Music on the Rocks at Positano are the pick of the bunch.
Sorrento is one of the largest holiday spots in the region and as such has to provide a wide selection of evening entertainment for the visiting tourists. There are a great number of clubs and bars, many open late into the night, so there is bound to be something to suit everyone.
Once the sun sets, Sorrento’s night scene comes to life. From 8pm through until midnight the main streets are closed to traffic allowing people to walk around at ease enjoying the warm evening. For the locals this evening stroll is known as the passeggiata as they wander out to see and to be seen. Cafés and bars serve drinks, coffee and ice-creams to those who wish to sit on their terraces people watching.
It should also be noted that during the day, for the sports-minded, the coast around Sorrento provides some of Italy’s best water sports for entertainment. Sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving are all on offer, snorkelling is popular too.
