Even after dark the city of York continues to delight any visitors. If you are staying in York for short break, you will be spoiled for choice as to how to fill your evenings. There are some great places for you to go to see any form of entertainment that takes your fancy, from plays to music at the Theatre Royal, the Grand Opera House or the National Centre for Early Music, or for live music, at the Basement to nightclubs like Flares. No matter what your taste there is bound to a venue that has something for you, from jazz and blues to folk or funk, it is all there.
It is advisable to check out the performances taking place during your actual trip dates to see what is on, as you may have to book some of venue tickets in advance. You could on the otherhand decide to try a more relaxed approach and just head for a quiet drink in one of the cities many traditional pubs, houses in building steeped in history there are many stories to be heard.
