Oxford Cheap City Breaks

Oxford University

Oxford View breaks >>

Enclosed by the rivers Cherwell and Thames, Oxford is a beautiful city of honey-coloured Costwold stone. This world famous seat of learning is a compact historic city and easily explored on foot. The university's colleges stand in cloistered seclusion displaying a wonderful array of ancient, Classical and modern architectures.

Don't miss the back lanes and alleys, particularly Merton Street/Oriel Street and Queen's Lane/New College Lane (leading beneath the Bridge of Sighs; just off here the Turf Tavern is a popular students' pub). The high street, known as The High, runs from Carfax Tower east to Magdalen Bridge over the River Cherwell, dividing the city into north and south.

Oxford is approximately 1 hour from London Paddington via train.
