Helsinki has the best shopping that you will find anywhere in Finland with a great variety of opportunities from markets and shopping centres to small boutiques and designer outlets.
The main city centre finds all the stores within easy walking distance of each other making them easy to explore. There are several streets that are perfect for window shopping with small unique one-off stores, such as high-quality jewellers. The most popular of these streets seem to be Aleksanterinkatu, Fredrikinkatu or Eerikinkatu, while some of the best art and antique shops can be found along Bulevardi, and the Design District in Punavuori is great if they are interested in fashion.
Shopping centres are popular but for some you have to travel out of the main centre. The Forum is a great place for young fashionable clothing labels such as Backstreet, Lindex and H&M. Itakeskus is the largest centre in Finland and is home to every type of store from clothing to computers. There are some large department stores, such as Stockmann, that provide a great range of products all under one roof and even the markets are popular, especially the flea market that takes place during the summer months.
