A city that’s big and rich enough to attract serious shops, but small enough to make for stress-free shopping. Known as the ‘golden mile’ for shopping in Verona, Via Mazzini, lined with expensive, tempting stores, runs from the Arena to the central Piazza delle Erbe, the range of shops is excellent with most of the Italian labels and there’s the bonus of a superb market.
You can enjoy the elegant shopping streets of Corso Porta Borsari or Corse Santa Anastasia that can be found in the centre of the antique zone. Depending on what you are looking for you will find all the main stores along these popular streets but venture down the narrow streets into the quiet corners and you will discover some of the most interesting and quaint stores.
Piazza San Zeno is the location of the city’s popular flea market, where you can browse the stalls looking at anything from furniture to jewellery. One thing to be aware of when shopping in Verona is that Italians like to haggle so you may be able to get some good deals if you negotiate, but be careful, they are good at it.
