Over the years, York, has become a very attractive location for a number of retailers and in turn has become a cosmopolitan city proud of what it has to offer any discerning shopper. With a great mix of recognisable high street names to designer labels and boutiques, every type of product can be found. Even food products are well represented with a mix of delicious deli’s to mouth-watering chocolatiers.

Antique and vintage shops are a particular favourite, with some fabulous jewellery available, try Barbara Cattle. You can enjoy walking the cobbled stones and side streets searching out the little independents or you could head to one of the main centres, like Coppergate where the popular retailers can be found.

If you are looking for a slightly different shopping experience, every day you can wander round the open market in the centre of York, offering a mix of products, with stalls changing daily.

Be aware that you may find buskers or street traders around the city streets but they must have obtained a licence from the local council to be performing or trading, so you should feel confident that you are not being drawn into any scams or illegal items.
