Namur is a city that is home to a number of fantastic events throughout the year, whether you want to enjoy the excitement and energy that these events tend create or join in ancient traditions and history of the area, there is a festival to endear any visitors. Even the National day in July is celebrated with a display of fireworks and concerts that resound throughout the city.
During December the city comes to life with the Namur Christmas Village. Chalets offer Christmas goodies from presents to decorations and traditional food. Carols are sung and a general festive spirit fills the streets as Christmas day approaches. This is not just one event but more a month of celebrations.

April
Folknam - In the streets and squares throughout the city, folklore shows and plays, craft stalls and street entertainers provide great celebrations.
Beer Festival - Held at the Citadel, Namur has become famous for this festival that takes place around Easter every year and attracts a large crowd all keen to try the local brews.
May
Country Festival of Jambes - On the outskirts of the city, this American country festival is held annually with a strong American theme. There is line dancing, an American car exhibition and all the refreshments have an American feel.
Festival of Travelling Arts - Imagine the circus coming to town, with around 300 artists, acrobats, clowns and even tightrope walkers, the streets of Namur come alive with a fairground.
July
Les Musicales - Classical music from middle ages, renaissance and the baroque periods are performed in Saint-Loup church and at the Royal Theatre.
International Folk Dance and Music Festival - On the other side of the river at Jambes you will find over 250 people wanting to exhibit the traditional dancing from around the world in the spectacle of music and movement.
Foire de Namur - From the traditional to the modern, circus performers of every kind fill the Place des Cadets and Quartier de Casernes with entertainment.
September
Fetes de Wallonie - In this four day extravaganza Namur hosts over 150 concerts with thousands of visitors drawn to the festivities that continue late into the evening.
Combat de l’Echasse d’Or - Otherwise known as the ‘fight for the golden stilt’, this unusual tradition is held on the third Sunday in September. Two teams, the Melans and the Avresses, done Medieval clothing and do battle in the main squares around the town while precariously balancing on stilts.

Antica Namur - With over 160 stall this antique fair is well known throughout the business and attracts dealers from all over Europe to Namur’s exhibition hall.
